Community Acupuncture at Emerald City Clinic!

Emerald City Clinic is going to begin offering community acupuncture at least one Saturday per month, and is open to adding more days with its success! Our first Saturday will be May 17th from 9am to noon. Dr. Jaime Ralston-Wilson, and Dr. Chad Borys are welcoming anyone in the community to come work them. You can find more information about each of these practitioners on our About Us page: http://emeraldcityclinic.com/about-us/practitioner-profiles/.Community acupuncture is a great introduction for new patients to the experience and benefits of receiving acupuncture. It can be beneficial on its own or in conjunction with regularly scheduled private acupuncture treatments. Most acupuncture treatments are received in private, however during community acupuncture, patients are treated together in the same room. While all attempts are made to respect patient privacy while speaking, privacy is somewhat limited due to the close nature of the community acupuncture setting. Please keep this in mind and feel free to contact the clinic or your provider prior to your appointment if you are not sure that this would be the best environment for your treatment. There are many benefits to community acupuncture; friends and family are able to come together for treatments, many people find it comforting to have the support of others, and a collective energy is formed which helps support the healing capacity of individual treatments. Our community acupuncture appointments are offered at a sliding scale rate: between $20-$40 per treatment, as you can afford. One of the goals of community acupuncture is to make acupuncture more accessible and affordable. Acupuncture is often most effective when received frequently for certain conditions and we understand that this may be challenging. The purpose of the sliding scale is to separate the issues of money and treatment. We hope that you can come as often as you’d like to achieve your goals of good health, happiness, and well-being.Acupuncture is a process. Many times symptoms or complaints are not resolved within one treatment. Although this may happen, it is a rare occurance. Treatment protocols often involve weekly or bi-weekly treatments for one to several months. We hope that community acupuncture is a great resource for you! Please call the office to schedule your appointment: 206-781-2206.oviedo_community_acupuncture

Healthy Breast Month: A More Positive Spin

It has been exactly a year since I returned to work and it seems appropriate that I comment on "Breast Cancer Awareness Month."  My first line of business:  Lets rename it "Healthy Breast Month!"   The breasts are organs that really react to hormones as much as, if not more so, than the organs in our bodies. They have so many estrogen and progesterone receptors that unhealthy breasts are really the first sign of hormonal imbalance.   That being said, anything that will optimize our hormones will help our breasts.   Secondly, because so many toxins in our world are made up of endocrine disruptors, I believe that they are a main factor in why breast cancer and  imbalanced breast health are so rampant.   There are ways we can protect ourselves! Besides Dr. Molly's 5 Point Health Plan, which is designed to support our adrenal glands and therefore balance hormones, the most important things for good breast health are:a.  Vitamin D blood levels in the 50-70b.  Good balance of iodine  (eat your CLEAN seaweed)c.  Good sleepd.  20 minutes of exercise/dayWe are offering thermographies monthly at Emerald City Clinic as one tool to help understand your breast health, along with an overall assessment of inflammation in your whole body.  If you mention you read this blog, we will offer 10% off your fee when scheduling either an appointment to discuss your results OR the thermography itself. (See more about these thermographies in my latest newsletter article: Summer Newsletter 2013.The best screening test still remains the breast self exam.  Please KNOW your breast tissue and any changes that occur. In celebration of "Healthy Breast Month"  submitted my Molly Niedermeyer, ND
